Imaging-based assays for measuring phagocytosis of bacteria, beads, myelin-basic protein and tumour cells by macrophages and microglia

​Celentyx can run high-throughput plate-based phagocytosis assays. Macrophages typically are generated from human monocytes from either healthy volunteers or patients with underlying diseases. M1 or M2 polarisation can be performed, as well as differentiation to a ‘microglial’-like phenotype using a proprietary cytokine cocktail. Cargo for phagocytosis include bacteria, beads or tumour cells (A). We also offer a human myelin-basic protein preparation as a phagocytic cargo with relevance for neuro-inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases (B).
Assays may be suitable for evaluating modulators of CD33, CD47, FcgR, JAK1, SIRPa, STAT1, STING, TLRs and others.
